A decorative antique Japanese Satsuma moriage vase, dating to the early 20th century and signed 金光山造, read as Gonkozan. The small baluster-shaped vase is richly decorated with hand-painted figures in traditional dress, stylised birds and layered geometric patterns. Raised moriage enamel, fine gilt outlines and a varied palette of turquoise, blue, red, green and deep brown give the surface a particularly detailed and tactile appearance.
